Verse
16:
Even though she is possessive of Him (Cf.
2:16 with
6:3,7:10
and note the word order) she still cries out for intimacy and to be cleaved
to her beloved. What can we learn from this ?
In
1:7
she asked Him where He feeds His flock - now she knows from experience
that He '
feeds His
flock
among the
Lilies'.
Look up the definitions of these words and think about the significance
of her statement.
Verse 17: She’s conscious of a ‘new day dawning’ and that she needs a change of direction (move away from self). She’s in a time of darkness (just before the break of day). She is also conscious of ‘shadows’ in her life (grey areas).
The Place of Separation

When we realize our
selfish and possessive nature we must cry out to Jesus to seperate us to
Himself. The son of righteousness will arise with healing in His wings!
He will take you through ‘dark’ times, where you are so aware of your selfishness.
During these times, press on in crying out to Him to be seperated.
 |
Eventually you will see the sun rise in your life and your relationship with Him. Also in our marital relationships we need to recognise selfishness, and cry out to be seperated to each other. |
She cries out for His presence in this time of separation - she cries literally for an 'awakening' where He would comes as a ' gazelle' or ' hart' on the mountains she finds herself in - look up the definitions of these words and see what Characteristics of Jesus she is asking for.
